You are knowledgeable about CAD or 3D design software workflows. You are interested in technology’s impact on these industries, passionate about design, and deeply care about developing features that will create the best experience for our customers.


The CAD Product Planer will work closely with engineering teams to deliver world-class solutions and experiences for our customers. The Product Planner will be responsible for coordinating requests from a variety of sources (user groups, community board, and distributors) and helping to identify and document both workflow and feature improvements.



You’ll make an impact by:


  • Software – Gaining high-level Building-Information-Modeling skills using Vectorworks BIM software
  • User Research – Studying current BIM trends and techniques to see how Vectorworks BIM software can be applied to BIM problem solving
  • Product Design and Improvement – Gathering, investigating, and prioritizing requirements from different sources. Developing feature specification and workflow documentation for engineering
  • Product Quality – Documenting program defects, identifying opportunities for improvements, and helping to streamline the user experience


About you:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Human Computer Interaction, Computer Engineering, Architecture, Civil Engineering or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience with 3D design software or CAD software (may include Vectorworks, SketchUp, Rhino, AutoCAD, Revit, Maya, Solidworks or others)
  • Analytical ability to gather, interpret and synthesize data and develop solutions
  • Ability to prototype and communicate intended solutions at various level of fidelity, from mock-ups to technical documents
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a passion for user experience
  • Experience with user research
  • Exceptional communication skills, and sound work ethic
  • Proven written skills especially in technical writing
  • Ability to effectively present designs to a wide range of audiences
  • Excellent project- and time-management skills
  • Some travel possible (up to 10%)


Extra Credit:

  • Portfolio demonstrating your work in software UI/UX design
  • 3+ years of architectural or construction technical management experience
  • Experience with building information modeling (BIM) software, especially 3D workflows
  • Prior experience with Vectorworks software
  • Experience with modern user experience design best practices and user interaction for desktop software
