The Communications Manager works with the Content Marketing Director to effectively inform and promote the company, its brand, its mission, its people, and its products.

 

This role will oversee the company’s content communications strategies and marketing campaigns for a variety of channels, including but not limited to social media, print/digital advertising, email promotions, landing pages, enewsletters, blog posts, and articles. As a member of the leadership team, this position is responsible for working in a supervisory and advisory role, liaising with department directors and project managers, attending meetings and mentoring staff to ensure they have the necessary information and direction to carry out tasks. In addition, responsibilities include identifying opportunities, threats, and mitigations to help the company achieve its goals. The Communications Manager is responsible for ensuring projects are delivered on schedule at a high quality.

Responsibilities

In this role, you should expect to:

  • Work with the Content Marketing Director to set priorities and ensure content strategies and projects are carried out with high quality and efficiency
  • Manage the content copy writing team including supervising, mentoring, and training of staff; support professional growth opportunities and editing services and improve processes to optimize operational efficiency
  • Ensure content communications are on-point according to our brand style guidelines and align with brand strategies best practices
  • Provide editing services to internal clients and support international distributor efforts
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key customer advocates and internal stakeholders (staff and distributors/resellers)
  • Stay abreast of Vectorworks technology, how customers use our products, and industry trends
  • Project manage, track, analyze, and report on the success of content projects
  • Grow our subscriber base by providing them regular, helpful content that’s in-tune with their needs.
  • Assist with ongoing blog development in support of key projects and marketing campaigns to attract site visitors through search, social, and our email subscribers.
  • Collaborate with designers, product marketing, sales, external influencers and industry experts to produce relevant content that meets the needs of both key stakeholders and our audiences.
  • Lean forward with SEO in building content for lead generation
  • Travel to events, shows, or client locations (Up to 10% travel may be required once travel restrictions are lifted per official health regulations)
  • Other duties as assigned.

Why do we want you? Because you have:

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, English, or a related field
  • 5+ years of professional writing/editing experience in media, communications, content marketing, and/or public relations and proven and progressive management experience
  • 1-3 years project management experience and knowledge of marketing, journalism, and other media-related professions
  • Past experience producing brand and product content for a variety of digital channels, as well as for events
  • Experience in creating messaging and briefing documents
  • In-depth knowledge of the HubSpot Content System, or similar content management or web development platform, to support blogging and produce smart CTAs according to sales lifecycle stage.
  • Experience using the following platforms or similar tools: ProofHQ, iMeet Central, Skype/Slack, Jira, Trello, Google Data Studio
  • Proficiency using the following:
    • Microsoft Office Suite (particularly MS Word)
    • Google Docs/Google Drive
    • Screen capture/image editing software, like Loom
    • Macintosh or Windows operating system
    • Zoom

 Extra Credit:

  • Technical writing and editing or experience working within the technology sector in a marketing capacity is a plus
  • General knowledge of Vectorworks products, features, and concepts is a plus!
