In a fast-paced environment, under moderate guidance and supervision, the copywriting specialist will work in a collaborative team setting to conceive and develop creative copy in support of sales and marketing campaigns, as well as brand and company communications.

 

The copywriting specialist must be familiar with online marketing tactics to create and edit against editorial style guidelines, company branding, and digital channels, such as blogs, websites, social media, advertising, and email. Position requires proficient writing, research, time-management skills, a calm demeanor under pressure, and a willingness to work on both short and long form content. The copywriting specialist will develop and create written content for a wide range of media including video, digital, print, experiential, and social.

Responsibilities

In this role, you should expect to:

 

  • Communicate with leadership, department and external team members, and interview sources, as well as track and report on project requests and implementation status. Excellent writing, spelling, and understanding of grammar are essential to the role.
  • Conduct research and organize facts to write/edit compelling copy including, but not limited to: blogs, case studies, emails, newsletters, web content, event-related promotional materials, annual product launch, video headlines/text/captions, training materials, product features, agendas, bios, social media, advertisements, etc.
  • Copy edit and proof various types of content in various formats, as requested, by internal clients
  • Conduct interviews with featured clients, industry influencers, and subject matter experts for blogs and case studies; work with project managers and internal subject matter experts at manager levels and higher to focus on the right objectives to support company goals
  • Articulate the Vectorworks story within the construct of the PFAB (Problem, Feature, Advantage, Benefit) model to drive top-of-mind value for our design software being the best choice in the industries we serve.
  • Help develop and implement departmental procedures, styles, standards; assist in the collection of data to report the success of marketing content.
  • Submit work for group review/approval, coordinate and implement edits, manage versioning, update status of work in progress and delivery dates, and coordinate task handoff.
  • Deliver copy for distribution readiness (including hyperlinks, UTMs, GA tagging, etc)
  • Actively participate in team and project meetings; contribute to team status reports on an ongoing basis
  • Other duties as assigned

Why do we want you? Because you have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, English, or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience in professional media, communications, marketing, and/or public relations
  • Working experience interviewing subject matter experts and collaborating with team members to craft intelligent, compelling content to support the marketing and sales of our global design software across multiple platforms
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words and proper use of grammar, punctuation, acronyms; intuitive understanding of context as it relates to word choice and sentence construct, especially for language translation.
  • Working knowledge of web writing tactics and SEO, working knowledge of social media platforms and best practices in writing marketing content, using hashtags; basic knowledge of Google analytics
  • Working experience using WordPress, HubSpot, ProofIQ, iMeet Central, Slack, Jira, or similar tools
  • Basic knowledge of key Vectorworks features and concepts

Proficiency in:

  • Microsoft Office Suite (particularly MS Word)
  • Google Docs/Google Drive
  • Screen capture/image editing software
  • Macintosh or Windows operating system
