    Vectorworks, Inc. is looking for a Big Data Engineer to build and automate our big data pipeline and generate detailed metrics and reports of our software. This person will work as part of our software engineering team.

    Responsibilities

    In this role, you should expect to:

     

    • Build and automate our big data pipeline
    • Generate detailed metrics and reports from big data for various departments within Vectorworks
    • Utilize understanding of ETL principles
    • Exhibit a proficiency in Python and AWS analytic stack
    • Work closely with both cloud and mobile technologies team as well as other software development teams to extract and analyze data

    Qualifications

    Why do we want you? Because you have:

     

    • A minimum of 60 college credits in computer science or a related field is required
    • A Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field
    • 1-3 years of experience (preferred)
    • A Minimum of one year of experience building data pipelines and performing detailed data extraction/analysis, resulting in generating metrics and custom reports
    • Solid understanding of ETL principles and how to apply them 
    • Proficiency in Python
    • Experience with Bash shell scripting
    • Worked with SQL or other scripting languages to write custom queries and to generate reports
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate across business areas
    • The ability to work in a fast paced and agile development environment
    • Strong interest in learning and using the latest technologies

     

    Extra Credit:

     

    • Experience with Kibana, Redshift, and Tableau Software
    • Hands-on expertise in many disparate technologies, ranging from front-end user interface to back-end systems as well as all points in between
    • Cloud development experience, particularly with Amazon AWS
    • Experience using Pandas and/or Numpy
